1. Who we are
CareerLaos (careerlaos.la) is run by CareerLaos, [ADDRESS], Vientiane Capital, Lao PDR. In this policy "we" means this company. You can contact us at info@careerlaos.la or +856 [PHONE].
2. What we collect
- Your account: name, email address, WhatsApp number (optional) and a password. We never see your password; it is stored in a protected form by our login provider.
- If you are a jobseeker: the profile you fill in (province, education, work experience, skills, languages), the jobs you apply for or save, and the messages we send you.
- If you are an employer: your company name, contact person, phone or WhatsApp, email, and the jobs you post.
- Reports about jobs, enquiries about advertising, and messages you send with the Contact us form (your name, email or phone, and your message).
- A few small cookies that the site needs: they keep you signed in and remember your language (Lao or English). We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.
- Visit statistics: which pages are opened and for how long, roughly where visits come from (for example a Google search or Facebook), the type of device and the language. For this your browser keeps a random number (not a cookie) so we can count visitors. It is not linked to your name, is not shared, and our staff only see totals. Browsers set to "Do Not Track" are not counted.
- A job you are typing into the job form is kept in your own browser until you publish it, so it is not lost if the connection drops. It is deleted from your browser once the job is published.
3. How we use it
- To run the site: show jobs, let you apply, and let employers manage applicants.
- To contact you about your applications and jobs, by email now (and by WhatsApp later, only if you allow it).
- To keep the site safe: check employers, review reports and remove fake or unsafe jobs.
- To understand how the site is used, using totals such as the number of jobs and applications.
- We do not sell your information and we do not show your profile to anyone who has not been given access as described below.
4. Who can see your information
- Employers: when you apply for a job, that employer sees the profile you filled in, your contact details (email and WhatsApp) and the CV you sent with the application. Employers cannot browse jobseeker profiles of people who did not apply to them, except as described in the next point. [LAWYER TO CONFIRM] "Employer" includes the colleagues the company added to its team on CareerLaos.
- [LAWYER TO CONFIRM] Job matching and "Let employers find my profile": we compare your profile (the job you want, your skills, field of study, province, education, years of experience and expected salary) with jobs, to show you matching jobs and to email you about new ones. If you tick "Let employers find my profile" in My profile (it is off unless you tick it), an employer with a matching open job can see your name, province, skills and how well you match, and can send you an invitation to apply. They do not see your phone, email, CV, or the salary you expect. They get your contact details only if you decide to apply. You can untick it at any time.
- The public: job posts, including the employer's company name and the contact details written in the job, are visible to everyone.
- CareerLaos staff: only the people who need it to run and protect the site.
- Service providers who work for us: Supabase (database and login), our website host, and Resend (email sending). They may store information on servers outside Laos, and may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Anthropic (an AI service): if an employer uploads a job description file to fill in the job form, or a jobseeker uploads a CV to fill in their profile, the file is sent to Anthropic to be read.
- Applying without an account: when you apply with only your name, phone and email, we create a free jobseeker account with that email so you can follow your application. We email you the passcode and updates about your application. You can ask us to delete the account at any time.
- Your CV and cover letter: if you upload a CV (when applying or in My profile) or a cover letter, CareerLaos keeps them privately so they can be sent with your applications. Only you, the employers you apply to and CareerLaos staff can open them. Upload a new CV to replace it, or ask us to delete them.
- Supporting documents: if a job asks for documents (diploma, transcript, certificates, reference or work letters), you can upload them when applying or keep them in My documents. They are private: an employer only sees the documents you send with an application to that employer (and CareerLaos staff can open them to help). Each application keeps its own copy, so an employer keeps what you sent even if you later delete it from My documents. CareerLaos never asks for or accepts identity papers (ID card, family book, passport). [LAWYER TO CONFIRM]
- Job posters: if an employer posts a job as a picture or PDF, that file is published on the job page for everyone to see, like the rest of the job. It is deleted when the job is deleted.
- Authorities: if the law requires us to share information.
5. How long we keep it
We keep your information while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your profile and applications, except where we must keep something by law or to deal with a report or dispute. Any backups are removed on a regular cycle.
6. Your choices
- See and change your profile at any time in My profile.
- [LAWYER TO CONFIRM] Tick or untick "Let employers find my profile" in My profile at any time.
- Choose which messages you get by email in My CareerLaos, "How we contact you".
- Withdraw an application while it is still new.
- Ask us to give you a copy of your information or to delete your account: write to info@careerlaos.la.
7. Security
We protect the site with secure connections and access rules in the database, so jobseekers can only see their own applications and employers only see applicants to their own jobs. No website is perfectly secure; please use a strong password and keep it private.
8. Age
CareerLaos is for people who are old enough to work legally in Lao PDR ([MINIMUM AGE]). Do not register if you are younger.
9. Changes
If we change this policy we will update this page and the date above. For important changes we will tell you on the site or by email.
